On 19 September 2025, from 10:00 to 12:30 (WEST), MARINNONET will host its Transregional Workshop on Blue Biotechnology Innovation — a key event bringing together experts and stakeholders from the Atlantic blue ecosystem to share results, explore real-world solutions, and spark new collaboration opportunities.

Following six regional workshops held across Spain, Portugal, France and Ireland, over 200 participants and 90 organizations identified more than 150 real challenges currently facing the blue biotechnology sector. These insights have been compiled into the new Atlantic Blue Biotechnology Challenges & Opportunities Portfolio, which will be officially presented during the event.

The workshop will also feature:

  • Real-world case studies from ongoing pilot projects
  • A special session with Maris Stulgis (European Commission, DG MARE) on blue bioeconomy policy and funding opportunities
  • Interactive focus groups with key actors from research, industry, civil society, and public authorities
  • The launch of the much-anticipated MARINNONET 2025 Pilot Project Call

This event marks a major step toward a more innovative, sustainable, and connected blue bioeconomy across the Atlantic Area.
