At MARINNONET, we marked Europe Day together with Interreg Atlantic Area and in collaboration with BLUEBIO ALLIANCE, embracing innovation, networking, and the circular economy through an inspiring Blue Biotechnology Innovation Workshop.
The event was held at Ecomare, Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), bringing together civil society, public institutions, and representatives from knowledge and business sectors linked to the blue bioeconomy.
Cutting-edge research, emerging technologies, and European cooperation came together in a space that encouraged the exchange of ideas, creativity, and a shared vision towards a more sustainable future.
The workshop featured an in-person gathering showcasing funding opportunities — including programmes such as Interreg, Portugal 2030, and Horizon Europe — alongside co-creation and open innovation sessions. Multidisciplinary working groups focused on aquaculture innovation, technologies for the observation and preservation of biodiversity, and marine-based products for industrial applications.
Participants also had the chance to explore first-hand the new technologies currently being developed and tested within the MARINNONET project, underlining our commitment to bringing R&D into practical application.
Networking, sustainability, and transnational innovation
This event strengthened cooperation among key actors within the Atlantic blue ecosystem, demonstrating the immense potential of marine biotechnology to drive more sustainable and resilient economies.
